Don’t Be Mislead

So I was on this blog and came across a very ridiculous post. take a look yourself……..This does not refer to my blog. It refers to another popular blog.

. Sister, black is the only proper colour for a Muslim woman. Please take this in mind. Your bright colored fashion sets will only get attention from men, shaitan will be near! Please sister give a better example to your fellow Muslimahs by making black only fashion sets!

Sometimes this sister includes make-up in her fashion sets! Astaghfirullah. I only wear make-up when I’m home for my Aboody. I usually do a smokey Arab eye, he loves it. But outside sister?! Surely you know better!

The latest pink set is surely sinful! The color pink and other feminine colors invokes lust in a man’s loins! Please sister, take down all your sets and start fresh in black!

I can state so many things wrong with this post……

First of all, black is not the only colour for a muslimah. This woman is clearly not educated or familiar with the rules of dressing modestly in Islam. Colours are no boundaries for a muslimah as long as her clothing is modest. No where in the holy Quran does it say that a woman can only wear black. note: I guess it may not totally be her fault beacuse she may be a convert who hasn’t been given the correct information and has been a little bit mislead.

Truthfulness

`Abdullah ‘Ibn Mas’ ud (R) relates that the Prophet (S) said:

“Keep telling the truth, for truthfulness leads to virtuous deeds(Birr) and virtuous deeds lead to paradise………”

Telling the truth makes a person trustworthy and honest in the eyes of him or herself, the people around them, and God. When you tell the truth you don’t have to remember what you said. Honesty and truthfulness makes any relationship a strong one. How will people be able to trust you if you aren’t truthful to them? People who lie, cheat, and backbite are not respected by anyone, and don’t have self- respect for themselves. Just by telling the truth a person has more self-esteem and builds more respect for themselves.

Where are the biggest and most beautiful diamonds found? Under COAL. Protected from people and the world. Just like that our hijab protects us. It protects us from certain people in our society. It protects our beauty and our dignity. It veils us from the evil eyes of our society. Women and girls should consider them lucky to be protected by the hijab.

Hijabies are misinterpreted

I was some place I can’t remember but this lady asked if I knew english and what was my name. I answered back, and for some reason that surprised her. I really dislike people who think hijabies are uneducated and caged. For some reason they find us unliberated and uneducated. People don’t know a lot about who we really are and I think it’s up to us to educate these people about who we are and why we behave this way. You can do your part too. When anyone asks you why you wear a hijab don’t just say it’s religious headcovering, tell them why we wear it. I remember my friend asking me that question and here’s what I decided to tell her…..

” I wear it because it symbolizes me as a muslim, and protect me from the evil eyes of certain people around me. I wear it because I want people to like me for who I am and what I am capable of. Not what I dress like and look like.”

A lot of my non-muslim friends encourage me not to wear it and that I look prettier without it but I always tell them who I am and what I believe. I also tell them it’s my choice and that I believe in modest dressing.
